AEM
                  Alternative Energy Matters

Commercial Applications:

Understanding each individual piece of the solar economic puzzle is tricky endeavor for the inexperienced.  AEM can provide turnkey solar systems since we have the supplier relationships, technical expertise, and the experience to successfully carry a project from start to finish. AEM will seek out the most advantageous funding options for projects: construction loans, leasing, community partnerships, and renewable energy grant programs. We have the financial know-how to ensure a finished project will get properly funded and be optimally maintained over it useful life.

A great variety of mounting options now exists for commercial buildings.

Energy management
is now an important aspect of environmental performance which poses a complex challenge to "management". As a result, it is likely that energy management performance is a strong indicator of management quality and stock market potential. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________
AEM has the knowledge and the network to support LEEDTM NC, 2.1, 2.2, EB, and CS  certification efforts within the Mid-Atlantic region.  Choosing to enlist our services early in a project's planning, will give you the most flexibility in deciding which sustainable options best serve your goals and budget.  We also can provide project management services for solar retrofits of operational structures as well as on-going new construction projects.  For investors in the sector, tax credits as well as other financial incentives make renewable energy projects an investment vehicle that provides attractive returns, a cleaner environment, and a more independent energy future.

Combining Greenroofs and Solar Systems Make Economic Sense:

The insulative and evaporative properties of greenroof systems can enable design teams to reduce the size of HVAC systems--savings that could be used to fund the increased construction costs of the greenroof.  A properly designed integrated greenroof "system" will often help a project go well beyond LEED intents across several categories.  Combining vegetative roofs with photo-voltaics provides much lower average operating temperatures that will increase production as well as help extend the useful life of the solar system.    Thus, warmer climates produce the greatest synergies.
Green roofs are an attractive roofing option that can reduce urban heat islands by providing shade and evapotranspiration, the release of water from plants to the surrounding air.  Green roofs also:
• Reduce sewage system loads by assimilating large amounts of rainwater.
• Absorb air pollution, collect airborne particulates, and store carbon.
• Protect underlying roof material by eliminating exposure to the sun's ultraviolet radiation and extreme daily temperature fluctuations.
• Serve as living environments that provide habitats for birds and other small animals.
• Offer an attractive alternative to traditional roofs, addressing growing concerns about urban quality of life.
• Reduce noise transfer from the outdoors.
• Insulate a building from extreme temperatures, mainly by keeping the building interior cool in the summer.
